Who is Likely to Die in a Colorado Collision?
The Colorado Department of Traffic (CDOT) recently released a report on fatal vehicle collisions from 2002-2010. Split up in groups, the numbers show just who is most vulnerable when it comes to vehicle accidents in Colorado. The categories include: drivers over 65, drivers under 65, passengers, pedestrians, motorcyclists, and bicycle riders. There are a few trends that may surprise you.
CLABSIs: What Are They?
In our recent blog, we talked about the infections associated with catheters, which are part of a larger problem in the United States: hospital-acquired infections. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at least one in 31 hospital patients has one or more HAIs at any given time. These diseases range from urinary tract infections to Clostridium difficile, and they are caused by unsanitary conditions.

Catheters and the Risk of Infection
A July 2019 study published by the University of Michigan found that up to 25% of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are linked to indwelling devices like catheters. Worse yet, the study concluded that doctors and nurses’ failures to communicate were usually the cause of these infections.
Medical Device Misconnection: the Wrong Tube Can Kill
Our last blog article dealt with medication administration errors—when medication is delivered to patients through the wrong route. (For example, something that was meant to be taken orally is infused into an IV drip.) Now, we’ll be homing in on how doctors and nurses make these mistakes: with medical device misconnections.

How Doctors Administer Medication (and Why It Matters)
Drugs serve many roles in a healthcare setting. They can be used to treat a disease, ease suffering, supply a missing substance, encourage a bodily reaction, or induce unconsciousness. But in the United States, delivering the right drugs to the right patients is a process beset with medication errors.
Why Car Insurance Is So Important in a Vehicle Crash
You cannot trust other drivers. It is a sad but true fact of life in the United States. You cannot tell when another driver has been drinking, is sleep-deprived, or is distracted and about to ram into you from behind. You also cannot tell whether another driver has insurance to cover your hospital bills and repairs in the event of a serious crash.
Misdiagnosis: Commonplace in the United States
According to a study of the U.S. population in the British Medical Journal’s Quality & Safety publication, the number of adult outpatients misdiagnosed each year is both underreported… and estimated to be more than 5%. That’s one out of every twenty patients in the United States. In no fewer than half of those cases, the misdiagnoses led to serious health consequences, such as the advancement of a disease like cancer, or death.
Injuries at Ski Resorts – Where Does Liability Lie?
Skiing and snowboarding are among the most popular outdoor activities in Colorado, drawing millions to the slopes each year. When negligence plays a role in a ski-related injury or fatality, understanding who may be legally responsible is an essential step in the legal process. From faulty lift operations to poor slope maintenance, determining liability is the first step in seeking justice.
