About Ned Deakins
Ned Deakins believes in holding people and businesses accountable for their actions. Prior to joining Leventhal Puga Braley P.C., he was a Colorado State Deputy Public Defender for 15 years. In the Appellate Division, Ned argued over 150 appeals, tirelessly seeking justice for his clients. Ned fought for and won new trials and other relief for clients who were denied fair trials. He also successfully defended a $10 million verdict in the Court of Appeals.
Ned has always fought for the underdog, and the gratitude and positive feedback he gets from satisfied clients is what motivates him to keep fighting every day to get justice for his clients. That means working to ensure that everyone has access to first-rate legal representation and a fair trial; he always treats clients with compassion and dignity while fighting to ensure they get and keep what is fair. Additionally, Ned takes professional pride in being able to connect with people and families who have been wronged or injured and make it right. Every time he gets justice for one of his clients, he recognizes that it discourages others from engaging in careless and harmful behavior. The result is that our world is made into a safer place.
Ned is passionate about legal education and the development of the law. One of the ways he gives back to the legal community is by lecturing at the Public Defender's annual legal conference. Prior to returning to New York for law school, Ned worked as a volunteer firefighter.
Ned lives in Denver with his wife and two daughters, having left New York City for Colorado because he was drawn to Colorado's open spaces. Spending time with his family is Ned's greatest joy, and he spends his free time with his wife, two daughters, and their dog. He's also an avid reader and an assistant volleyball coach.
