Premises Liability

Every year, thousands of people are injured on property outside of their own home, including garages, supermarkets and other businesses. Property owners have the duty to protect people who enter their property lawfully from sustaining injuries. If a business owner fails to take the necessary precautions to prevent injury, they are held accountable.

If you or a family member has suffered an injury as the result of negligence, you may be entitled to file a claim. Property owners are legally bound to provide property that is safe to those that enter or visit, and make reasonable assurance to warn of conditions that are unsafe. If a property is negligent in any of these areas, you may be entitled to damages including:

  • Medical expenses
  • Pain and suffering
  • Loss of current or potential wages

Businesses often carry premise liability insurance. Keep in mind business insurance companies are looking out for their best interests, not yours.
